  • Catatan Khotbah

  • Pembicara : Ps David Yap (Pastor/Elder)
  • Tempat : Yio Chu Kang Chapel
  • _________________________________________
  • Romans 12: 1-13

  • “I'd rather have Jesus than anything that this world affords today” George B.

  • See...our perspective must be transformed.
  • v.2: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
  • We should live purposefully to fulfill God's will.
  • How to do that?

  • I. Think soberly (v.3)

  • v. 3:“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.”

  • Be mindful of God's grace: He sent Jesus Christ to earth, to save us =D

  • II. Serve Faithfully (v.4-v.8)

  • How to serve faithfully??

  • By recognizing that:

  • -We belong together
Meaning: we belong to Christ and we belong to each other

  • - We have different gifts
According to v.4 to v.8, there are 7 different gifts (in other part of the Bible, there are still other spiritual gifts):

  • 1.prophesy

  • 2.serving

  • 3.teaching

  • 4.encouraging

  • 5.contributing to the needs of other

  • 6.leadership

  • 7.showing mercy

  • -We must use our gifts faithfully

  • III. Relate lovingly (v.9-13)
  • With what should we relate lovingly???
  • with sincerity

  • with discernment

  • with devotion

  • with honor

  • with enthusiasm

  • with patience

  • with generosity

  • IV. Live a life that's pleasing to God

“By living purposefully according to Your will, let You be glorified in my life Lord”

Thank you for your blog. All words of truth from the Source (Bible).

In Romans 8:28 God reassures every believer that, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

After that reassurance He makes His intent clear for every Christian - "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."

Psalm 23 says "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

The Apostle says, "I die daily."

Jesus said, "He who is not willing to take up his cross and follow me . . ."

We only begin to shine (radiate Him) as we submit to the slow, painful death of the 'Old Man' as God arranges/alllows that bit-by-bit through trials and hardships.

Then bit-by-bit, as we repeadedly deny self and say 'Yes' to God we begin to shine a little more.

It is surely a life-long process but we must be willing to say as Jesus did in the garden on the night of His arrest, "Not my will, but Thine be done Father."

John the Baptist said, 'He must increase and I must decrease.' We must echo him in that.

Please pray for me and my church and all of the body of Christ to be willing to suffer death daily that we may live and shine so that others may ask the reason for our hope and desire Him as we.

Thank you.
